Mike Marshall and Hamilton De Holanda releases, "New Words: Novas Palavras."
Two bright Mandolin stars, Brazil’s Hamilton De Holanda and N. America’s Mike Marshall, met a couple of years ago at a Mandolin festival in France. Playing both large and small mandolins, mandocello, tenorgutiar, bandolim, & and Irish Buzouki, they have recently released “New Words.” A c.d. with none of that…little to no words! Some songs are originals, some are covers but all are finger-flicking good!

About Ranarim's Morning Star:
“Rana” is Swedish for beautiful rug/tapestry, “Rim” is the archaic word for “dew,” as Ranarim’s sound brings a “pop” sentiment to traditional music. Thought I would hardly say that the pop stands out more than the sharply harmonized dual female vocals. The general feel of this album is green and endearing. I recommend any of the tracks for morning mixes, but are my favorites:
#1. Clapping
#2. Mouth harp
#3. Upbeat
#4. The harmonic vocal hold at the last few seconds of this track strike the listener still.
#6. Very calm
#13. Med. Tempo; a song to call to the howling of the wind.
