The Skatalites let loose, On the Right Track; and we've captured it here at WFHB.: Fusing boogie-woogie blues, jazz, mento, calypso, and African rhythms, the Skatalites perform “the first truly Jamaican music, ska.” Officially formed in 1964, soon after Jamaica became an independent nation from Britain, the Skatalites became known as, “the father of rock steady, the grandfather of reggae.” On the Right Track features full horns, hard bop, and rhythm. You just might consider it Jamaican jazz for its improv styles.
