About:
Angelique Kidjo's recent release, Djin Djin.
Bright and soulful vocals from African diva, Angelique Kidjo. Born in Benin and now living in Paris, Angelique on Djin Djin, expresses her vocal abilities in both African and English languages. With the support of a hand full of guest musicians the music is presented in a backdrop of solid percussive elements. As she experiments with her identity as an African diva, she challenges ideas of familiar tunes such as Gimmie Shelter, and at the end of the c.d., there is a very special rendition of the traditionally instrumental Bolero. A superb track indeed!

and on another release, Taffetas with...Fanta
as a reviewer, I haven’t been successful in locating much information concerning a biography for the group, Taffetas. However, that information isn’t so much necessary to appreciate that kora with guitar indeed create these sweet sounds. This group with Ibrahima Galisssa (kora), Marc Liebeskind (guitar/shik-guitar) and Christophe Erard (double bass), added Italian Vocalist, Francesca Casio to create a unique musical layer for you, the listener.
comments / tracks of interest:
#1: bright and shine
#2: kora and guitar take turns for the lime light, vocal accompaniment#5: title track, Fanta. Nothing like the pop commercial
